A nova guerra fria do Golfo Pérsico: causas das mudanças no padrão de cooperação-conflito entre Arábia Saudita e Irã (1971-2016)

Abstract

The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iran is defined by moments of cooperation and conflict. Considering the theoretical basis from Castellano’s Analytical Model to the Study of Regions, this final thesis aims to analyze the changes in the pattern of cooperation-conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran from 1971 to 2016, taking into account the events in the Persian Gulf. The hypothesis adopted is that the changes in the pattern of cooperation-conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran have as the main explanation the changes in the foreign policies from these states to the regional order. This is justified by contributing to the understanding regionalism. For that, a hypothesis-deductive approach and a bibliographic and documental research technique are proposed.
