A gestão da política cultural da UFSM: o Centro de Convenções e o potencial de aproximação com a comunidade

Cultural management of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) has been developed
based on national cultural policies and in line with the on going challenges in the Institutional
Development Plan (PDI) of the institution, enabling the UFSM, public entity, state
representative, can develop cultural diffusion strategies and approach to the community where
it operates. PDI enables through strategic planning, cultural management UFSM will achieve
its objectives and goals and together with the National Culture Plan which aims among other
factors institutional strengthening and policy development to ensure the constitutional right to
culture; the protection and promotion of cultural heritage and the ethnic, cultural and artistic
diversity. In this context, the objective of the research is to identify and describe how the
actions undertaken by the cultural management of the institution affect and cause positive
impacts on the people who benefit from the produced and managed culture in UFSM and also
propose the strengthening of the relationship between UFSM and the local community, so that
this integration between the public and the company is a promoter of knowledge, citizenship
and social welfare. The methodological study procedures characterized as being descriptive as
regards the classification. They used data come from reports obtained in Portals UFSM. The
results show that there is an important participation of the academic community in the
promotion and access to culture produced at the university and it is concluded that it is
important to be a greater agreement among the actions planned and executed by the cultural
management UFSM with cultural guidelines in force at the level institutional and national
levels.
