Resumen
Journalism practiced by traditional media has been suffering changes due to digital social networks. These social networks facilitate interaction between their participants and enable a new way of conversation. In addition to being a space of sociability, digital social networks are also useful places for the emergence of events. This characteristic is called cyber event. In this context, the role of the journalist - selecting facts and transforming them into news - is being stressed by the participants of these networks, since they also incorporate dynamics of the journalism order. Based on this, this research proposes to analyze the journalistic coverage of the case of the collective rape in Rio de Janeiro that occurred on May of 2016. This is a case that was discovered in the social network Twitter and that exemplifies the concept of cyber event. The research also aims to analyze the pragmatic journalistic narrative, methodology of Luiz Gonzaga Motta (2010), and, through this, seeks to answer how the site G1 organized its coverage on the case of collective rape in Rio since May 25, 2016 until the conclusion of the police inquiry on June 17, 2016.
