Vermicompostagem: uma aplicação da educação ambiental no âmbito escolar

The present work sought to develop the principles of Environmental Education in a school environment, thus demonstrating that we are all active subjects in the construction of healthier practices around us. Aiming to analyze the contribution of the practice of thematic workshops for students of the 1st and 5th year of elementary school in raising awareness of the correct destination of organic waste and soil conservation mediated by environmental education.In addition to this, working with the interrelationship between human beings and the environment, developing a cooperative spirit and committed to the future of the planet. The training of students took place through thematic workshops on vermicomposting and soils, being held during the period from July to December 2019, with the classes of the 1st and 5th year of the Municipal Elementary School Lívia Menna Barreto, in the municipality of Santa Maria, RS. The workshops were developed in order to mix theory and practice, which provided students with a lighter and more enjoyable learning experience. In this way, we sought to collaborate with Environmental Education, sensitizing students to the importance of the soil and the reuse of solid waste, especially organic waste, projecting that this practice extends beyond the school environment.
