The present work has as final intent to elucidate and clarify topics related to the Kalman
Filter, specifically applied to Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in photovoltaic solar
panels, once that the power produced by the panels depends on many variables leading,
consequently, to variation in their output potency. About the filter, it is understood as an important
algorithm that is able to estimate parameters, once that it is able to act in a recursive
manner and, therefore, converge to the real value of a determined application. Additionally,
it can be cited that the filter works with a set of mathematical equations to determine states
of interest. These, on the other hand, may present many uncertainties, be them resulting
from the measuring or from the estimating process, and, yet, they can obtain an accurate
value. The Kalman filter is diversely applied to indoor and outdoor positioning systems,
navigation systems, spatial vehicles control, industrial plants control, general systems of
telecommunications, amongst other applications. It is worth pointing out, also, the intense
growth in the market of energetic efficiency, especially solar power; therefore, studies that
aim to advance the current technology become fundamental, studies such as the one proposed
in this monography.
