Resumen
This work is characterized as an experimental research study, longitudinal, observational and descriptive aiming to relate the play activities of capoeira with the level of flexibility and balance children of the 3rd grade of elementary school of a school of public schools of the city of Quaraí / RS. After collecting and analyzing the data, associating the findings in the survey to other studies, we came to the conclusion that the Capoeira can contribute in a positive way to promote the development of flexibility and balance of students. Therefore, capoeira can and should make up the curriculum of physical education and that this becomes an instrument of great importance for motor development in the early school years. One aspect to be highlighted refers to a possible limitation of this study, given that other factors that influence the flexibility and balance were not addressed in this study, such as anthropometric measurements, body composition, genetic factors, lifestyle, etc. While Capoeira is an important element of our culture and much discussed in its historical context, it still needs further research with regard to performance and physical qualities. Therefore, it is necessary to develop further research aimed at identifying the benefits of capoeira, as well as the main factors involved in their practice.
