Resumen
Teaching, research and extension are considered the three pillars of Brazilian universities, playing together an extremely important role in academic and social development. This research proposed and evaluated a type of approach for extension activities that include teaching and research activities with the subjects of the action, thereby strengthening the inseparable relationship between these pillars. There were three stages of this approach: pre-visit, visit and post-visit, previously scheduled by the participating schools. The visit took place at Espaço Célula, an Interdisciplinary Cell and Molecular Biology Exhibition, located next to Ciência Viva, a supplementary organ of the Center for Natural and Exact Sciences of the Federal University of Santa Maria, while the other stages were carried out at the school. This proposal also aimed to encourage research in these places as a strategy for diagnosing gaps in science education and in initial and continuing teacher training. As a result of this approach, we hope to collaborate with a plan that directs the attention of visitors, reducing the interaction of external factors, which we call “attention dispersers”. These dispersers are any external aspect that could divert the focus from the main activity. Finally, through a planning proposal, we seek to contribute to the use of non-formal spaces as assistants in the teaching and learning process.
