dc.description.abstractFrom the tweet analysis of Juliette’s audience published between January 2021 and July 2022, period that runs since the artist’s participation on the reality show Big Brother Brasil 2021, until the releases of a documentary, music album and tour, the current work seeks to observe the means by which the media consumption of Juliette’s representation on Twitter relates to the maintenance and resignify processes of Brazil’s Northeast Region. The analytical methodology were based on tweet gathering and systematization from two rationalities present in the sociocultural perspective of Garcia Canclini (1997), as it follows: 1) Consumption as an integration and communication system, and; 2) Consumption as a place of social and symbolic distinguishing between groups. To the analysis were made, therefore, a conceptual articulation between media consumption (GARCÍA CANCLINI, 1997), representation (HALL, 2016) and identity and regional culture (ALBUQUERQUE JÚNIOR, 2011). In our results, we perceive media consumption as fundamental to social relations, as a means to integrate a group through belonging and distinction from others, as well as to assign new meanings to the cultures that has, slowly, been invented (ALBUQUERQUE JÚNIOR, 2011) through stereotyped representations.
