Resumen
This paper presents a study of technologies developed since 2008, in the period
denominated Fourth Industrial Revolution, that can be applied in order to achieve Sustainable
Development in a world outlook, besides initiatives developed specifically in brazilian
territory. It has the purpose of developing an outlook between the national and world situation
of activities that guide to sustainable alternatives of production and consumption through
technologies of the Industry 4.0. The research and selection of technologies and projects were
based on search at websites of public and private companies, scientific articles and reports.
Initially relevant theoretical subjects were approached, such as the concepts of “Fourth
Industrial Revolution” and “Sustainable Development”, and how these concepts can be
applied together, in a practical way, in order to no longer be only theory and become a reality
in the daily life of world population. Lastly, technologies were raised on areas such as: eletric
vehicles, energy generation through alternative sources, ecological agricultural production and
sustainable alternatives to plastic. Moreover, in each area, were calculated the effects, in tons
of CO2 emissions and effluents pollution, of the traditional production and consumption
models. It is concluded that the traditional production and consumption models are harmful to
the aim of a Sustainable Development on an world outlook, beside the fact that Fourth
Industrial Revolution technologies contribute highly to Sustainable Development and are
subject of being applied worldwide in a near future.
