Resumen
This paper aims to discuss the relationship between the teaching of Religious Education in schools, addressing aspects related to the practice of such discipline combined with the fight against prejudice, intolerance and discrimination. The work is justified in the current educational scenario, which still demonstrates prejudices - pre-established ideas - in relation to Religious Education in schools, as it is often perceived the ignorance of how this discipline should be approached by teachers, leaving thus, that the main objectives are left aside: the fight against inequality, bullying, racial and social discrimination and respect for diversity. It should also be taken into account the students' lack of interest in this subject of study, which is evident, since unattractive content and teachers from all areas of knowledge teach Religious Education classes. In this sense, it is worth noting that the school reinforces and demands values and virtues from students and this can and should be done through the subject in question. This is a bibliographic research on the theme of religious education as a tool against discrimination and prejudice and has a qualitative approach, with a interpretative methodological bias, with theoretical basis through authors such as Celso Antunes, Norberto Bobio, José Gomes Canotilho, Murilo Cisalpiano , among other important voices that discuss and debate this approach, contributing to the understanding and development of the ideas contained in this article.
