Resumen
This study describes the concept, the development of a prototype, the importance and
reason for the digital transformation in beekeeping, the digital beekeeping. Bees are the
most important pollinators, responsible for 75% of the pollination of agricultural crops.
With Colony Collapse Disorder (DCC) as the sum of population growth, where by 2050
we can reach 9 billion people, pollination and bees have gained the attention of
scientists as we border a collapse in agriculture. As a proposal to help solve this
problem, Beekeeping needs a new direction, Technology, such as cloud computing and
Internet of Things. The prototype developed and the organization of the possible
sensors to monitor the apiary, brings a new direction for beekeeping, in which through
these devices it is possible to monitor the apiary, beehives, and the surroundings, with
the aim of having historical, automation in the sensing remote, traceability, and
interaction with the entire production chain during honey production. The technologies
used are present in Precision Agriculture (AP), which is the successful model of
agribusiness technology. The result of this technology brings to the farmer a new reality
in agricultural management, the same is done through precision beekeeping (a variation
of the AP), with the prototype developed, will additionally bring uniformity and
improvement in beekeeping management. Therefore, the digital transformation in
beekeeping will give the beekeeper a new perspective, beyond the maturity of the use of
technology and the democratization of information.
