This research is characterized as a case study that objectified to reframe the play of a school of early childhood education through the proposed organization of thematic corners of play. The data had been collected through questionnaires organized with open and closed questions in order to understand how educators (teachers and assistants) work with play. Throughout the discussion, was reflected on the theme corners of play qualify the act of playing. Taken up the history of early childhood education in Brazil since the welfare bias practiced with popular education to the current design concerned with the overall development of children. Criteria are standed out that demonstrate the importance of play in child development. The conceptions of educators about the same are analyzed, trying to understand the context in which it happens. And by the end, presents a proposal for this do in school researched as a way of offering new significance it based on the theme corners of play.
