dc.description.abstractIn Brazil, the largest portion of the automotive fleet is on the road and, with the current situation on the highways, the collection of data from these vehicles as they travel enables an immense amount of benefits. This work presents the design and creation of an IoT solution that provides real-time information on automobiles belonging to the automotive fleet, such as: mileage traveled since the vehicle was started, GPS location and speed monitoring. The data is collected on a mobile device and is sent via Internet connection to the server that stores it. The construction of the IOT module is done through a smartphone device and a Bluetooth adapter ELM327 connected to the vehicle’s OBD2 port. The developed software runs on the mobile device that connects to the EML327 adapter, collects the data from the vehicle ECU as well as the location information by the smartphone sensors, performs local cache and sends it to the server for persistence. The collected data were compared to the vehicle’s data when in motion using its instrument panel and the application was able to capture this data in an interval of 10 seconds. On the server, the data was displayed through their averages or the difference in the case of the distance traveled and the vehicular route was displayed on a map.
