Estudo comparativo da precisão de radiografias periapicais, panorâmicas e tomografias computadorizadas na região do forame mentual

Abstract

O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar a precisão das radiografias periapical, panorâmica e tomografia computadorizada e estabelecer a margem de segurança nas medidas verticais. A amostra valeu-se de vinte hemimandíbulas humanas secas que foram radiografadas para avaliação. A área selecionada foi a do forame mentual, e foi realizado um traçado dos exames. Com o uso de um paquímetro eletrônico digital, foram realizadas as medições dos traçados e das mandíbulas seccionadas na região proposta para o trabalho. Os valores obtidos foram comparados, e os resultados demonstraram que os melhores desempenhos foram da radiografia periapical e da tomografia computadorizada. Foi possível estabelecer a margem de segurança para cada um dos exames radiográficos estudados.

The aim of this study was to determine the accuracy and safety margin of the periapical radiography, panoramic radiography and computed tomography. The sample was made of twenty dry human hemimandibles that were submitted to exams. The region selected to this evaluate was the mental foramen. Using an electronic digital caliper the measurements were performed in the exam tracings and in the cross-sectioned hemimandibles. The measurements of the exams were evaluated and compared with those of the mandible specimens. The results showed best results to periapical radiography and computed tomography. A safety margin was established for each of the exams.
