desenvolver TA. Disordered eating (DE) are harmful behaviors to health, such as: long-term food
restriction, self-induced vomiting, use of diuretics or laxatives, strenuous physical
activity practice, among others. Such risk behaviors may also lead to reduction of
anaerobic potency, hyponatremia and dehydration, being detrimental to sports
performance. Being that some psychological variables can have influences in these
DE like anxiety and motivation. To analyze the relationship of anxiety and motivation
with DE in athletes of collective sports of the male gender. The sample consisted of
71 athletes of collective sports of the male gender. They completed the CSAI-2R,
SMS and DES questionnaires to analyze anxiety, motivation and DE. The results
showed statistical difference only in the subscales demotivation (r = 0.29, p <0.05) of
the SMS and self-confidence (r = -0.44, p <0.05) of the CSAI-2R revealing
relationships with the DES score. The results of this study showed a significant
relationship between MSS and CSAI-2R scores with those of DES, indicating that, in
male athletes, demotivation and self-confidence (negative relation) influence the risk
of developing AT.
