The present work analyzes the natural structuring of landscapes in a philosophical perspective. It aimed to apply the Materialism Dialectic to explain the structure and dynamics of landscapes in time and space and serve as didactic material for the teaching of Environmental Sciences and Physical Geography. In order to perform the current study, the dialectical-materialist method was used, applying the laws and philosophical categories of the Marxist Dialectic to interpret the criate and the development of the natural landscapes that prior to the human existence. Cartographic materials, such as meteorological satellites, SRTM images, radar charts, geological maps and topographic maps of Pernambuco were used in several scales, as well as thermal and pluviometric data obtained from APAC and treated in the CLIMAP program. The research took place in two distinct but inter-related stages. The office phase consisted of a broad analysis of the Dialectical Materialism as Philosophy and Method foundations. This phase was followed by a field work to examine real landscapes contained in the Metropolitan Pernambuco, Mata Norte, Mata Sul and Agreste Central Development Regions, and to generate photographic records of landscapes and verification of natural events and investigated processes. The main concern of the work was to provide a philosophical view of nature, especially on the development of natural landscapes, with the most modern subsidies of computer science and cartography. The thesis was split into two major parts. The first, of a general nature, turned to the theoretical foundations of Dialectical Materialism and the explanations of the physical-geographic elements that compose the landscapes. The second dealt with the natural structuring of the landscapes and the identification and characterization of the geosystems contained specifically in the area investigated and the environmental problems in them. The research allowed to conclude that the Dialectical Materialism constitutes a theoretical instrument that contributes enough for the understanding of dialectical totality and the dynamics of the landscapes.
