Resumen
Introduction: When properly indicated, cesarean delivery contributes to maintaining the health of the mother and baby. However, in recent decades, the cesarean section has prevailed as an innocuous procedure, reaching unjustifiable levels, with both maternal and neonatal negative repercussions. For this reason, is clear the importance of using the Robson’s Ten Group Rating, a standard system to assist in monitoring cesarean sections. Objective: To analyze cesarean sections indications based on the Robson’s Classification in a usual risk maternity ward. Methodology: The study was characterized as observational, prospective and quantitative approach. Women from the Unified Health System whose normal or cesarean delivery occurred at the Serido Hospital were evaluated. It was collected identification, socio-demographic, gynecological and obstetric history data, followed by interviews with pregnant women. With these data it was possible to classify them into one of Robson´s groups. Statistical analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. In the descriptive analysis of quantitative data, measures of central tendency (mean) and dispersion (standard deviation) were used as for for the categorical data, absolute and relative frequencies. Results: From 150 women that participated in the study, 71.3% of them underwent cesarean section. When analyzing the contribution of each group based on the Robson’s Classification, the group that most contributed to cesarean section alone was 5 (37.4%), followed by group 1 (28.0%) and group 2 (15.9%). %). Conclusion: The hospital has a high cesarean section rate. For this reason, results should be considered when planning strategies to achieve and maintain an appropriate cesarean section frequency.
