Water is a widely used resource, contributing to practically all activities performed by society. Approximately 50% of the water that is withdrawn returns as effluent to the water. As popular in the literature, a textile industry is a sector that consumes high volumes of water in its production stages. Consequently, there is the generation of effluents with high flow and different chemical compounds, resulting from the addition of dyes, which causes high color. Thus, thinking about and applying laws and measures to avoid changing the quality, waste and reuse of water is the mission of the government, scientists and society in general. For the treatment of effluents with the characteristics mentioned above, advanced oxidative processes have been used for research, as efficient and sustainable techniques. In this research, the application of the photo-Fenton reaction was studied for the treatment of real effluent collected in a local textile industry, evaluating color reduction as a parameter for the effectiveness of the reaction, through spectrometric analysis using factorial planning. From the results obtained in the 11 experiments performed, 3 dissipation of an increase in absorbance, 2 will not have an exchange rate variation and 6 pointed to a reduction in color, for a total time of one hour of reaction. The highest percentage reduction was 56%, without experiment 04, showing the application of the photo-Fenton reaction as an efficient technique for the treatment of effluents with a high concentration of dyes.
