Perfil linguístico de crianças com histórico de prematuridade: um estudo preliminar

Abstract

Objective: present preliminary results related to lexical, phonological and verbal shortterm memory skills of children with a history of prematurity. Method: cross-sectional and descriptive study with a sample of six children aged between 30 and 58 months of both genders, with gestational age between 27 and 32 weeks and birth weight between 924 and 2208 grams. The children's language test - ABFW was used to assess the skills of expressive vocabulary and phonology. The assessment of verbal short-term memory was performed using the Short-term phonological memory test. Results: the most impaired skill was verbal working memory, followed by phonology, which presented a profile for maintaining phonological processes. Conclusion: when considering the three assessments, it was possible to verify that half of the subjects presented performance suggestive of impaired language development.
