Resumen
Walking through Ribeira neighborhood, there is a considerable amount of historical heritage buildings in a state of neglect, which visually reveals a neighborhood in the process of emptying and forgetting. That said, there have been some initiatives over the last few years to improve this situation. One of the major challenges of this actions is related to the low participation of the population in revitalization strategies. Thus, it is essential to recover the recognition of the neighborhood as a cultural heritage, in order to ensure the preservation of its social memory and reconnect it, affectionately, to society. Taking dance as a cultural activity and using it as a tool to rescue the connection between society and the heritage buildings, it is proposed to make an adaptive reuse project of the Galhardo/Arpége building, located at Rua Chile in the intersection with Travessa Venezuela, for a cultural space of artistic manifestations, centered on dance and the relationship that the body establishes with the city and with the building itself. Therefore, the general objective of this work is to elaborate a project of adaptive reuse of a heritage building on the historic center of Natal, aimed at the interaction between dance and other arts. Having as specific objective: to discuss concepts and methods of intervention in historical buildings, understanding the importance of the historic center of Natal for the local history and architecture; explore the context of dance and its relationship with other forms of art, investigating the lack of dance spaces and integration of different artistic expressions in the city of Natal; to analyze how the architectural space relates to the body in motion, through the study of corporeality, in order to specialize the peculiarities of dance in project development. When thinking about the requalification of historical areas, it should be taken into consideration that, to promote a greater dynamism, one must have a diversity of uses of buildings and a certain articulation between them. In this context, the proposition of a reuse of cultural space focused on dance requires some integration articulated with other spaces already existing in the neighborhood. Thus, in a practical way, the work is imports because there is no establishment in the city focused on this articulation. And theoretically, for the academic contribution as an example of and adaptative reuse of obsolete structures, abandoned buildings, requalifying them along with their surroundings.
