O silêncio das rosas: a ausência da educação no Complexo Penal Feminino João Chaves

Abstract

The present study deals with the absence of education for women deprived of their liberty, especially in the female wing of the João Chaves Penal Complex, in Zona Norte the city of Natal, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. In order to do so, we seek first to understand the vision of the educational presuppositions at the macro (world), micro (Brazil) level and the Constitutional precepts that must be respected by society. Later, it enters in an analysis in which emphasizes the prison universe feminine with its several thorns. It is intended to discuss the challenges faced by lack of education and how it can fail to make positive changes in the lives of the inmates. For this, the present work believes that educational project in the criminal complex is a reality in paused construction. Besides the challenges, it is intended to point out what can be improved, aiming to contribute to what has already been done in the area of prison education.
