Teoria da regulação econômica: uma análise empírica para o mercado de colchões no Brasil

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the effect of the sector's regulations through INMETRO's ordinances, especially Ordinance No. 79/2011, on the level of concentration in the mattress market in Brazil. To this end, we discussed the Theory of Regulation, presenting the versions of the Chicago School and the French School, evaluated the relationship between the mattress market and the petrochemical activity, and analyzed data on the number and location of companies, quantity, and value of production and sales of products. It was concluded that regulation did not become a barrier to entry for new companies.
