dc.description.abstractFaced with the notorious rise of the fitness market in the country's economy and in the city of Natal (RN), associated with the need of exploring thermal comfort in physical activities environments and reducing the energy demand in commercial buildings, the idea of creating a fitness center with an emphasis on the use of passive air conditioning systems emerged. To accomplish this goal it was necessary to define what is considered a thermal comfort situation in an environment focused on exercises practice, to study what are passive systems of climatization and its advantages and to understand what defines the size/capacity of a fitness center. In a study level, the equipment has been placed in Ponta Negra, a neighborhood with high landscaping potential, consolidated infrastructure and restrictive verticalization laws near the beach area, favouring the use of natural ventilation. To support this project, theoretical researches, direct and indirect reference studies were need. The overall result compiled into a 2.109,58 m² modular building, with contemporary features, daring materials such as wood and abundant vegetation.
