Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by hyperglycemia in the blood. It can cause several complications, such as Peripheral Obstructive Artery Disease where there is a decrease in blood supply mainly in lower limbs, the most common symptom is intermittent claudication that causes pain, burning sensation and cramps in lower limbs during exercise, which cease in a short rest period. Currently, there are no studies evaluating functional capacity and quality of life in diabetic individuals with and without PAD in the municipality of Santa Cruz. Objective: To evaluate functional capacity and quality of life in diabetic individuals with and without PAD through different field tests. Methods: This is a descriptive observational study, which was conducted at the Clinical School of Physiotherapy of the Trairí School of Health Sciences. Participants were assessed using a demographic, anthropometric and clinical / functional form, Ankle - Arm Index (ABI), 6 - minute Walk Test, Incremental Shuttle Walking Test, Heel rise test and SF-36. Results: Twenty subjects of both sexes were evaluated, divided according to the ABI results in two groups. Individuals with DM and PAD had worse performance on the 6MWT and ISWT tests, but with no difference between the HRT groups. There was a significant difference between the groups in the functional capacity domains and social aspects of SF-36. Conclusion: The association of PAD with the diagnosis of DM leads to a more pronounced functional disability when compared to diabetic subjects only, QOL was similar between groups.
