Resumen
The Alto Alegre is a community of quilombola remnants located at Queimadas District and Central district of the city of Horizonte/CE. In the 1960s, the community was characterized by an economy based on subsistence family farming. The origins of the quilombos rely on the commu-nity memoirs and are related to the family of Cazuza, who was a runaway African slave that escaped a slave ship anchored in Barra do Ceará in Fortaleza. In June, 2005, the Alto Alegre earned the Certification of Quilombola Community through the Palmares Cultural Foundation, which at-tested to the existence of black people in Ceará and made it possible for the Alto Alegre Community to access public policies benefits and the legal recognition of their land. The objective of this work is to propose an architecture project oriented to social integration, relating it with the concepts of the cultural landscape, aiming to contribute to the strengthening of local population identity. The main objective of this work is to design a Multisport and Cultural Center for the community of remaining quilombolas in Alto Alegre, considering the relationship of residents with the place. Therefore, this work has three specific objectives which are: (1) to understand the concepts of the cultural landscape through the local lens; (2) to survey the types of sports and cultural groups and their needs to practice their activities; and (3) to apply the concepts of the cultural landscape on the project design. After the certification of Alto Alegre as a community of quilombolas remnants, it was founded the ARQUA As-sociation, which contributed to a series of improvements and access to public policies. The construction of buildings like the NUPPIR and the Cazuza Cultural Center were important to develop community meetings, workshops, courses, and other activities. However, sporting practice does not have permanent organisation, nor does it have the structures needed to enable practice. The Multisport and Cultural Center would be an answer to that community demand and can contribute to the strengthening of community identity. The project was designed aiming to relate many variables, from cultural activities like maculele and capoeira, traditional architectural techniques like taipa and water flows, to what con-nects the project with the community and its culture.
