Resumen
Potiguar tourism is concentrated on the east coast of the state, mainly in the municipalities of Natal, Tibau do sul and São Miguel do Gostoso, and its main natural attractions are the beaches. However, with the regionalization policies and the growth of activity, a growing interest in the demand on the part of tourists to get to know the interior of the state and its cultural attractions began. This is the case of the municipality of Santa Cruz / RN, which saw in its traditional popular festival, the Festa da Patron Saint Santa Rita de Cássia, the opportunity to build a religious monument for the promotion and movement of local tourism, a monument considered the largest in meters , religious attraction of the catholic religion of the world. In this way, becoming a reference for practitioners of religious tourism. So, do we seek to understand the relationship between the Catholic Church and the municipal public management of tourism in the management of religious attractions in the municipality of Santa Cruz / RN? It is in this dimension that this article focuses, the participation of the church and the city hall, the dialogue with religious tourism in public management and the impasses with the church in the management of attractions, its results for the economy and the promotion of activity in the municipality and region. . This issue is relevant to the public management of tourism and academia, since this dynamic is present in religious tourist destinations. Thus, the proposed methodology for conducting the research was qualitative, aiming to obtain a wealth of details in the questions raised during the application of the questionnaire, even if remotely. In the dialogue developed by the researcher, it was found that it is necessary that both managers of municipal attractions are in constant alignment with the demands and promotion of them, with this, transparency in the transfer of information is present in this partnership. However, greater community involvement is needed to foster activity in the municipality.
