Resumen
This work of conclusion of Professional Master's degree consists of a preliminary project of
requalification of the Public Market of Jaguaribe in João Pessoa, considering the characteristics
of the free fair there. This document is composed of a technical report and an architectural
design. During its construction, it was possible to identify, in the market and at the fair, the
wealth of pluralities, knowledge and cultures that resist social, political and economic
transformations. Even with the lack of incentives and inspections by the competent bodies, the
market and the fair have been operating in the same space for decades, currently presenting
precarious, inaccessible and unhealthy facilities. Considering its importance as a cultural and
economic equilibrium element, for the development of this work, the concepts and history of
the themes presented and studies on the perception of the natural and built landscape, as well
as the analysis of related correlated projects in primary and secondary sources. The project was
developed, first, from the definition of the concept and the architectural party. Next, the
identification of the project dilemmas and their respective goals, considering factors such as the
number of fixed and temporary occupants; the type of furniture and equipment required for the
performance of the activities; the relation with the conditioning factors of thermal, light and
acoustic comfort, their proximity and separation; the main targets to be met; sources of
information; the sketches with schemes of implantation and distribution of the spaces. In the
sequence, the architectural programming and the dimensioning of the environments were
defined, followed by the description of their spatial organization. Simulation of the behavior of
the existing buildings in the intervention field and the proposal in relation to the direction and
pressure of the winds were also carried out with the aid of the Flow Design software and,
through the Ecotect Analysis software, the solar incidence in different periods of the year.
Another important factor for the design decisions was the definition of the elements and
constructive systems, taking into account the low environmental impact and the constructive
rationality. It is hoped, with this work, to present a reflection about the design process of reform
and construction of buildings that shelter different activities and services in order to promote
the integration between activities and users and between buildings and their urban context.
