Resumen
The main objective of this work is to elaborate an architectural design of a contemporary art center in the city of Natal, Brazil, with emphasis on the use of natural light. The lack of public cultural spaces in the city, such as museums and art spaces, which should be part of people's daily lives, was the main reason to choose this theme. In addition, there are still few actions by public management to encourage and maintain the existing spaces. This fact contributes to the lower visibility and little artistic valorization by the local population and tourists. Considering the importance of spaces that dialogue with its visitors and the environment, adding vitality and identity in the proposal, the use of natural light in the interior spaces and their relationships with the environment will be emphasized. The interest in developing a project of an artistic and democratic space arises from believing in the use of art in public spaces as an important tool for social and personal transformation in the city.
