dc.description.abstractThe gestational period is marked by physiological changes that translate to an increase in energy and nutritional needs, not being a gestational nutritional state, which is a determining factor in fetal development and growth. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and the anthropometric profile of newborns assisted in the University Hospital child-friendly of the city of Santa Cruz-RN. The hospital nutrition protocol was used, constituting a sample of 2,671 pairs (pregnant / newborn). The statistical test was published as statistical significance (p <0.05). Most of the pregnant women started and ended a gestation in eutrophy. In relation to newborns, most of the weight and extrauterine adaptation without asphyxia. The correlation between the maternal and the anthropometric profile of the newborn was statistically significant (p <0.001). The combination of age and motherhood and birth weight (p <0.001). Differences between maternal nutritional status and birth weight, sometimes similarity between onset of overweight and obesity (p> 0.05) on birth weight and the difference between all birth weight residues (p <0.001) . This study is confirm with a discussion about the relationship between motherhood and the anthropometric profile of the newborn, however, more studies may be necessary to understand how nutritional events can interact and interfere with the health of the newborn.
