dc.description.abstractDomestic animals are gaining more and more space in today's families. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in 2013, the number of dogs resident with families exceeded the number of children. This fact, together with the personal interest in deepening the knowledge about the architecture directed to animals, justify the proposal to develop a project of a complex of leisure, medical assistance and hotel for dogs in the city of Natal/ RN, object of study of this work . The main objective was to elaborate a proposal for a space for leisure, medical and hotel services for dogs of all sizes, in addition to theoretically substantiate concepts and questions related to architecture aimed at dogs; understand the current landscape of the local market for pets and apply design solutions that contribute to the sense of contact with nature and freedom for animals. For this, research was done on books, dissertations, theses, websites, case studies and references, analysis of legislation and deepening on Animal Welfare (BEA). Finally, the development of the architectural project focused on wood roofs that convey the idea of lightness to the building.
