Resumen
Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) are among those that cause the most deaths in the population, and nowadays they are appearing at an early age. One of the causes is inadequate food consumption. The objective of this study was to evaluate the dietary intake of adolescents and young adults with cardiovascular risk factors, relating it to Body Mass Index (BMI) and Blood Pressure (BP). It consists of a cross-sectional research design, carried out with 75 individuals. Energy, macro and micronutrient data were evaluated and correlated to BMI and BP values. These were analyzed using SPSS software, with the tests of normality, homogeneity, ANOVA and Pearson's test for correlation between variables. Most adolescents were eutrophic, female adults were eutrophic, while males were overweight. In BP, both groups, in their majority, were classified as normotensive. We observed in most of the population an energy and fiber intake below recommended, and a possibly normoprotein intake in both groups. As for lipids, a possibly hypolipidemic intake was considered in adolescents, both sexes and adult males, the female sex was possibly characterized as normolipidemic. Carbohydrates were possibly adequate for adolescents and below recommended for adults. Cholesterol and saturated fat were above recommended for both groups, except adult males. Micronutrients in adolescents were more adequate in females. In the adults, the males were more adequate. It is concluded that the evaluated public presents inadequate eating habits, contributing to the development of CVDs.
