Abstract

This study presents a research carried out with the aim of identifying evidence of the relationship between Law and Art in the cultural scene of Natal, capital of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, admittedly, a city squeezed between Recife and Fortaleza, from the cultural point of view. In the research, after discussing the concepts of Art and Law, a brief incursion into the history of the relationship between art and the instances of power that determined the law in its times was made, in order to finally try to identify the level of knowledge and application of the rights in the environment of artistic production in Natal/RN, with specific clippings that aim at a propaedeutic analysis regarding the artist's relationship with the environment of legislation that somehow touches his craft, in the city of Natal/RN.
