Resumen
This work has as its theme the teaching performance in music of multi-instrumentalist
musicians. It studies the profile of these teachers, their specificities and the influence of this
characteristic on the professional performance of music teaching in different contexts, in the
state of Rio Grande do Norte. This is research with a quantitative approach, configuring itself
as an intersectional survey. Altogether, 13 teachers participated in the study, male and female,
working in early childhood, elementary, high school and in free musical instrument courses in
the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The questionnaire was applied in electronic format, through
the Google Forms platform, and the teachers agreed to use the data for academic purposes
when answering the questionnaire, as instructed in the description of the instrument. The
results indicated that, although they are not essential conditions for teaching music, skills and
abilities for performing on multiple instruments can be important elements for teaching music
in different areas of activity, which highlights the importance of such skills and abilities. in
the initial training of teachers in the area. It is expected that this study will contribute to
academic-scientific discussions and institutional policies related to the instrumental training
of music teachers.
