Abstract

This article will present part of a Master Thesis (Profmat, 2014), which sought to assist in improving teaching practice math teacher, this practice in recent years ceased to be investigative and also became quite mechanical, it is evident from the study of algebra of elementary school, especially the theme quadratic equations. This theme in most Brazilian textbooks, is approached without any historical context, have two or three solving techniques as well as the student who was unable to learn with ease root extraction and enhancement will be doomed to never be able to determine the roots of such equations, therefore this paper will introduce a change of variable that facilitates the determination of the roots of quadratic equations
