From a comparison between the Matsuo Bashô’s frog haiku and four translations into Portuguese of the same poem, analyzes the forms with the time manifests itself in every poetic. From presentification of the original text to space-time’s nuance translations, develops a reflection on the cognitive and social influences of literary production, considering the language as a reflection of an intrinsic aesthetic sensibility in every culture. Haiku becomes, so, the poetic par excellence for this type of analysis, since it stems from a linguistic and perceptive different context than that for which it is translated. The work seeks to trace the bridges connecting the eastern and western worlds to, then, locate the differences and highlight how poetry can remain trapped or surpass its historical and social context.
