This experience report is a final work to conclude the Graduation Course in Physical Education bachelor’s degree. Their goal was to describe the track and field teaching experience in elementary school, in order to propose possibilities of teaching this modality in the context of physical education, through an open teaching style, transmitting cultural and cognitive values, encouraging students to analyze and critically think all past experiences. The reality of physical education classes in Brazilian schools has shown that sports content is still one of the most emphasized with the media as an important broadcaster of the show sport being played by the masses, and it ends up confusing the critical view of society about the sport, as the TV sport program have sport, most often as a best practice restricted to, the stronger and the more skilled. This study used the action research methodology, based their practice on critical emancipatory approach Kunz (1994). The analysis consisted of questions directed to students in conversation wheel, on the level of satisfaction by the lessons presented and then questioned local teachers about their views about the classes, applied methodology and teaching style and through practical images. We can conclude that athletics can be used in a playful way to build critical knowledge about the body in instances of know-how, knowledge being, knowing knowing and knowing how to live, we also realize by May of images of students that their bodies, when move, they acted critically, they learned and taught at the same time with the movements. In their speeches the students the students expressed their satisfaction on the activities, your thoughts about them, about what they knew and what they wanted. Speech teacher can hear that yes it is possible to combine the technical with the playful and communicating with students schedule classes best.
