INTRODUCTION: The SARS-COV virus, which causes the disease and pandemic of COVID-19, began in China and spread around the world in 2020. The most common symptoms are a runny nose, cough, sore throat and difficulty breathing. There are reports in the literature about temporary or permanent hearing loss after COVID-19 infection. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the findings in the literature on complaints, symptoms and hearing disorders after COVID-19. METHOD: An integrative review was carried out in the PUBMED, LILACS, SCIELO databases between 2020 and 2021 with the descriptors (DeCS): “hearing”, “tinnitus”, “hearing loss”, “audiology”, using Boolean operator “AND” with filters for English, Portuguese and Spanish languages. Inclusion criteria: articles that studied the correlation between COVID-19 and hearing, with free access in full, in the selected period, focusing on the adult and/or elderly population. Exclusion criteria: articles in other languages and that had some cost to release the reading, in addition to information from books and/or chapters, theses, dissertations, abstracts, case reports, notes, letters to the editor, review articles. RESULTS: 955 papers were found, 914 from PubMed, 24 from Lilacs and 17 from Scielo. Through the use of the title/abstract filter, 678 papers were excluded, leaving 276 for reading the abstracts. After a complete reading of the abstracts, 256 studies were reduced because they did not meet the inclusion and eligibility criteria. Of the 20 articles selected, 4 did not fit the guiding question or proposed objective, and 16 articles were admitted for final analysis. The findings reveal that auditory symptoms are present in a portion of the post-COVID-19 infected population. However, to associate hearing loss with COVID-19 infection, one must keep in mind the diagnostic modality, temporal relationship, clinical presentation and exclusion of other possible causes. CONCLUSION: The main findings resulting from COVID-19 infection are: tinnitus, otalgia, vertigo, sensorineural hearing loss. Effects on the vestibular system can cause balance disorders. Although the pathophysiological mechanisms of this infection are not yet fully elucidated, it is assumed that the virus has neuroinvasive potential, which can cause changes in hearing.
