Resumen
ABSTRACT
The Northeast of Brazil is one of the most active seismic regions of the country, but the state of Maranhão did not have strong characteristics until then, which inserted it in the same seismic context of the states of Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco, with seismic activity. On January 3, 2017, an earthquake of magnitude approximately 4Mb occurred that was felt in several municipalities near the capital of the state of Maranhão. Seismological studies developed by the UNB, defined these tensions, which are generally found in passive continental margins, characterizing the event as a typical earthquake of the Continental Stable Region (RCE), as defined in the literature. Intraplate voltages are almost critical and approximately constant, with earthquakes occurring due to small localized transient variations in voltage or resistance to failure. With data acquired from the Maranhão network, it consists of five stations (CAMP, PERO, PICO, PTAL and CAQB), which at the beginning of the data processing process, needed to convert to msid format, after conversion because the data is timely it was necessary to reconfigure this data to first make a file of 60 minutes and then another file of 24h finalizing in the structuring of almost three months of data. Looking closely at each day recorded by the stations, we located 15 events where 09 local events occurred in January at shorter intervals, while the last six events occurred at larger intervals between the months of February and March. With these events the SEISAN softwere can make the epicentral location of the event that was consistent with the initial location made with data from the UNB station and also with the Maranhão network installed by LABSIs / UFRN.
