The sanitary sewage system of the municipality of Natal/RN is in full expansion aiming at its universalization and, for this to occur, it is necessary to survey and analyze the existing structures that constitute the system. This work focuses on one type of structures that constitute the sanitary sewage system, surveying, critically analyzing and proposing solutions to the physical and operational conditions of the Sewage Pumping Stations of the municipality of Natal/RN, operated by the Companhia de Águas e Esgotos do Rio Grande do Norte (CAERN). The sewage pumping stations have as principle the supply of kinetic energy to enable the sewage to go from areas where localities do not allow sewage to go by gravity to its treatment or disposal point, making the system technically and economically feasible. The data survey was based on CAERN's information, by means of interviews carried out in the sector responsible for operating and maintaining the pumping stations, where questions were asked to confirm and compare with the information contained in the Contingency and Emergency Plan - Natal, CAERN's own document. It can be observed that the system has manuals for 12 of the 28 pumpings stations studied (42.9%), counting on 28.6% of the operations being done by fixed operators and the confirmation of pumpings stations without their operational data available to the teams that manager the pumpings stations. The information collected leads to the understanding of the need to update the information available to the team responsible for the maintenance and operation of the stations, as well as create operation and maintenance manuals for all operating units of the system under study.
