Proposta de um plano de gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos para uma serraria de venda e beneficiamento madeireiro

Abstract

Brazil currently has a large number of micro and small companies that sell and produce frames or other products using wood as raw material. These companies produce a large quantity and diversity of wood waste that when poorly managed result in negative impacts on the environment and public health. And in order to face these new challenges, the Solid Waste Management Plans (PGRS), an instrument of the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), emerge as a regulatory framework in the sector. The objective of this study was to identify the nonconformities and main challenges faced by the enterprise in solid wood waste management, through a study carried out in a sawmill for sale and beneficiation of timber, in order to obtain pertinent information for the elaboration of a PGRS proposal, guidelines of the National Solid Waste Policy. The work was divided into two stages. In the first stage, the diagnosis of solid waste generation was performed through in situ observations, interviews with employees and document analysis. It was verified that the current model of waste management of the company does not have adequate segregation, storage and destination. There is no valuation of the generated waste and no actions to reduce generation. In the second stage, priority programs and actions were proposed to reduce generation and increase the value of waste, which could be applied to enterprises or other companies in the timber sector, with similar characteristics, contributing to compliance with environmental legislation and greater sustainability in the production chain.
