Resumen
Introduction: Functionality is a term based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). It can be measured through an objective way by the WHO Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0). Since the information about the maternal functionality is limited, it becomes necessary to identify factors related to this term among pregnant women exposed to habitual risk. Methodology: In this work, we performed an analytical transversal observational study, following the methodological guidelines of SRTOBE. The sample was composed by 104 pregnant women exposed to habitual risk, including 18-35 years old women with no obstetric complications. The women who did not conclude the questionnaire, for any reason, were excluded from the investigation. The study was approved by the ethical committee of UFRN/FACISA 2.974.947 - CAAE: 00466818.4.0000.5568. The gathered data is composed by obstetric and sociodemographic information related to pain, functionality, quality of life, empowerment and social support. The Pearson correlation and Multiple Linear Regression tests were used. Statistical significance was assumed for P<0,05. Results: The chronological and gestational average ages were 27,80±5,58 years and 20,96±8,48 weeks, respectively. 94,2% of the participants had a partner while 5,8% had not. It was observed that the pelvic pain intensity (B=8,44 | P=0,003) and that the quality of life (β= -1,39 | P=0,003) are functionality predictors. Conclusion: The results of the present survey suggest that the greater the pelvic pain intensity is and that the worse the quality of life is, the more compromised the functionality among pregnant women exposed to habitual risk will be.
