Resumen
Presents a repertoire of documents referring to the person of the black Luis Chermont de Brito (1816-1879), that lived in the county of the Príncipe, Clientele of Sant' Ana do Seridó, in century XIX. Such documents, that go from 1861 to 1879, are deriving of the Fund Luciano Alves of the Nóbrega, the Fund Joaquin Martiniano Neto (Madureira) and of the Fund of the county of Caicó, custody by the Laboratório de Documentação Histórica (LABORDOC) of the Centro de Ensino Superior do Seridó (CERES), Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Campus of Caicó; of the data base of the Diocese of Caicó, conditioned in the Diocesan Court of Caicó; The work is justified for the necessity of if congregating and presenting, in the form of transcriptions, a documental data base referring to the black Luis Chermont de Brito, who lived in the Village/City of the Príncipe in the second half of century XIX, which was tailor, musician, homeopath and bursar of the Brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Rosário of the black men. In methodological terms, we began of bibliographical revision; election of documents from the contact with the data bases; assembly of fiche of collection of data and fulfilling of the same one, from each document; transcription of documents; consolidation of the repertoire. Seven documents had been indexed to the person of Luis Chermont de Brito: petition asking for creation of Brotherhood of Nossa Senhora dos Impossíveis; civil action requesting its resignation of the position of bursar of the Brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Rosário; prescription and expenditure of the City Council of the Village of the Príncipe; prescription and expenditure of the Clientele of the Seridó; petitions to the City Council of the City of the Príncipe and inventory post-mortem. The examination and reading of such documents, in the future, will be able to propitiate the sprouting of research on the life of the proper Luis Chermont de Brito, as well as, on the context of the life of the men of color in the city of the Príncipe in century XIX.
