Estudo preliminar do Hospital Veterinário Universitário da Escola Agrícola de Jundiaí, Macaíba/RN

Abstract

In the context of public health in The Greater Natal, the lack of a public animal health center and the lack of effective policies to ensure the animal's well-being results, in case of illness, in referral to a medical support in private clinics, which demands financial conditions from tutors and rescuers of NGOs. In this case, hospitals linked to universities as an option for low-cost diagnosis and treatment, through a mutualist relationship, in which animals receive health care, in a broad and universal way, and the student community has the opportunity to learn from the exercise of professional practice. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to propose a preliminary design of a University Veterinary Hospital focusing on the promotion of public health in the metropolitan region of Natal, considering the expansion instructions of Escola Agrícola de Jundiaí and the curricular guidelines of the undergraduate course in Veterinary Medicine. Finally, the work is justified by the hospital's contribution, since by promoting research and extension, fundamental pillars of a public university institution, the equipment helps to promote local health, as it enables actions related to epidemiology, prophylaxis and control of zoonoses. In addition, it aligns with the expansion priorities of the Macaíba campus, whose vocation, since the beginning, has been to deal with earth and nature sciences, providing the physical structure for the implementation of the Veterinary Medicine course at UFRN. Finally, the formal result of the work was the layout of the Veterinary Medicine complex at the EAJ and the preliminary design of the hospital equipment for the care of small and large animals. The building was designed according to the configuration of the surrounding urban elements, considering the permeability of the land. In this way, aesthetics and the creation of routes were aligned with the need to promote comfort in the building.
