Resumen
The water supply, which according to Law 11.445 / 2007, makes up one of the axes of sanitation, along with sanitary sewage, urban cleaning and solid waste management, drainage and rainwater management, represent through their set of services the figure of public health, quality of life and social and economic development, being a primordial condition for survival and human dignity. Due to its importance in different areas, this work aims to evaluate the dynamics and performance of the water supply system in the urban area of Monte das Gameleiras - RN between the years 2007, the year of implementation of Law 11.445/2007, and the year 2018 with the most recent data available, through the analysis of operational, water quality and financial indicators derived from indexes and information obtained from the National Sanitation Information System platform and information report for planning by the state service provider. This analysis allowed us to identify a significant increase in the presence of micro-measurement devices, growth monitoring and urban expansion in terms of area range, sufficient production for the required demand and the quality of the water distributed. However, there was no evolution in distribution losses, billing, water consumption index and revenue evasion. In addition, there was an increase in electricity expenditure in exploration expenses and the need for cross-subsidy with other municipalities for the operation and maintenance of the analyzed supply system. Based on these identifications, interventions and recommendations were suggested that could contribute to a better efficiency of the system and guarantee to the population water security with regard to the quantity, regularity and quality of water and service provision.
