Resumen
The aim of this study is to identify how different conditions of contact pressure and sliding speed influence the tribological behavior of a PTFE composite. In order to compare their behavior, two different materials were evaluated: pure PTFE and PTFE filled with 20% of tailings of scheelite (RS). During the tribological test, a tribometer with a pin-to-disk configuration was used, in which the carbon steel pin was in flat contact (plane-plane) with the specimens. The sliding speed and load applied were doubled from 0.4 m / s to 0.8 m / s and 80 N to 160 N, respectively. However, the sliding distance remained constant (1440 m). The results showed that there was a decrease in the coefficient of friction while the contact pressure has increased for both, pure PTFE and composite. Furthermore, for the condition with the highest values of contact pressure and velocity, there was a considerable increase in the temperature between the tribological pair, as expected.
