In this current research, the chemical composition of Pinus radiata D. Don trees from different age classes was determined. To achieve this, a hydrolysis with trifluoroacetic acid method was used. Significant differences on chemical composition associated to age were found. Values obtained are necessary to establish feasibility of using this biomass resource at ages in which, sugar contents result both quality and quantity favorable to produce biofuels (bioethanol process) or chemical compounds (biorefinery process).
