dc.descriptionThis paper is a clinical report of a male patient, who had suffered a left temporal bone fracture. At the Emergency Service, the fracture reduction was performed, with the emporal muscle incision. After two months, the patient presented a deviation to the left side during mouth opening and function limitation. Computadorized tomography and magnetic resonance were perfomed to investigate a condyle fracture or internal dearrangement of the temporomandibular joint. Both revealed the integrity of the structures. So, the temporal muscle generated the problem as a result of wound healing. The patient was submitted to physiotherapy sessions and recovered the temporal muscle function.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artigo relata o caso clínico de um paciente do sexo masculino, 20 anos de idade, que sofreu fratura de osso temporal esquerdo. No primeiro atendimento foi realizada redução cirúrgica desta fratura, com descolamento do músculo temporal. Após dois meses de convalescença o paciente apresentava látero-desvio durante a abertura de boca para o lado esquerdo e limitação de abertura, simulando fratura de côndilo ou alteração intra-capsular. Com o uso de tomografia computadorizada e ressonância magnética, que mostravam as estruturas em plena integridade, constatou-se que a causa do látero-desvio e da limitação de abertura era muscular. O paciente foi submetido a sessões de fisioterapia, e recuperou a função do músculo temporal, bem como a amplitude da abertura mandibular, com desaparecimento do látero-desvio.pt-BR
