dc.descriptionThis paper seeks to illustrate a notorious chapter in the history of economicthought, that is, the monetary foundations of Hayek´s criticism of the concept of equilibrium.We then analyze the likely theoretical repercussions imposed by this criticism on theAustrian´s own perception regarding the role of money in the economy. This only becomespossible through the association between money and knowledge, which was tried by Hayekalready earlier in his theory of the business cycle. The articulation of these concepts – whichwere themselves developed independently of each other along Hayek´s academic career –throws new light, from a different perspective – on the problem of the neutrality of money.en-US
dc.descriptionO presente artigo busca ilustrar uma passagem notória da história dopensamento econômico, a saber, os fundamentos monetários da crítica de Hayek aoconceito de equilíbrio. Analisam-se as possíveis repercussões, em nível teórico, que talcrítica impôs à percepção do autor austríaco no que se refere ao papel da moeda naeconomia. Isso somente se torna possível pela associação entre moeda e conhecimento,empreendida por Hayek já em sua teoria dos ciclos econômicos. A articulação dessesconceitos – desenvolvidos independentemente ao longo da trajetória acadêmica doaustríaco – permite visualizar, a partir de uma perspectiva diferenciada, a questão daneutralidade da moeda.pt-BR
