Resumen
Introduction: FM is a chronic disease of unknown etiology that causes generalized pain, sleep disorders, headache, memory and concentration problems, and mood disorders. Objective: The objective of this study was to perform a review and critical analysis of the systematic reviews on the effects of non-pharmacological interventions in individuals with fibromyalgia. Methodology: A review of the literature of systematic reviews published between 1995 and 2019 was performed. Results: Six articles were included in this literature review as a source of results on non-pharmacological intervention in fibromyalgia. These studies had as main outcome the importance of physical activity as a form of treatment, physical exercises and complementary therapies such as kinesiotherapy and other non-drug treatment measures. Conclusion: Exercise is a well-indicated non-pharmaco- logical treatment for these patients, which brings beneficial gains when associated with medications or as more effective forms of treatments for stress reduction, anxiety, mood enhancement and hormone-releasing disposition such as serotonin , endorphins and adrenaline that soothe and give the sensation of relaxation to the patient.
