Pregnancy requires special attention in view of the many changes that a woman undergoes, inclusive in the oral health; there is therefore a need for dental care in prenatal care. Considering the strength of the pregnant to the dental treatment at this stage, this study aims to identify the factors that limit this adhesion, analyze the reasons for refusal, both professional, as the pregnant woman, to care, and encourage self-care in oral health, to develop an intervention plan aimed at increasing adherence of patients to dental treatment during pregnancy. From the identification of the problem low adhesion to dental treatment during pregnancy , the foundations of Virtual Health Library ( VHL ) , LILACS , SciELO and Google Scholar databases were consulted, besides considering the daily clinical experience of the dentist, and we could meet some barriers to treatment adherence: as fear, insecurity, little information on the subject (beliefs and myths), among others. Thus it was possible to propose measures to intervene and increase acceptance, making the monitoring of oral health in the prenatal routine, which will benefit both the health of the mother and baby's health.
